Concrete Sidewalk & Driveway Cleaning in Stephens City, VA
August 18, 2025

At Pristine Window Cleaning, we love when our customers are so happy with one service that they invite us to do more! That’s exactly what happened on this project in Stephens City, Virginia, where we had just completed a house wash and window cleaning. Impressed with the results, the customer asked if we could also clean their concrete driveway and sidewalk — and we were glad to help.
The Challenge: Rock Salt Damage & Stubborn Organic Growth
The homeowner shared that their nephew had tried to help them during the winter by spreading rock salt to melt ice. While well-intentioned, the salt had left visible damage in several areas of the concrete surface. That meant we had to carefully adjust our pressure washing technique to avoid worsening the damaged spots.
Beyond the salt damage, the concrete was dirty, stained, and had organic growth (mold and mildew) that had built up over time. Because concrete is highly porous, it tends to soak up dirt and hold onto it like a sponge, making it tricky to clean without the right process.
Our Process: Safe, Thorough, and Plant-Friendly
To restore the driveway and sidewalk, we used a combination of soft washing and surface cleaning:
Pre-rinse & plant protection – We thoroughly rinsed the surrounding grass and landscaping before applying any solutions to ensure nothing was harmed during the process.
Algicide application – A stronger-than-normal algicide mix was applied with our soft wash system to break down dirt, staining, and kill organic growth.
Dwell time – We allowed the solution to dwell for 15 minutes, ensuring it penetrated deep into the pores of the concrete.
Surface cleaning – Using a professional 20” surface cleaner, we cleaned the concrete in manageable sections. Each section was immediately rinsed, which prevented the lifted grime from reabsorbing back into the surface.
Final rinse & inspection – We completed a heavy rinse of the entire area, checking that no residue remained and that the plants had been protected.
The Result: A Driveway the Homeowner Was Proud Of
By the end of the project, the sidewalk and driveway looked bright, clean, and refreshed. The homeowner was thrilled with the transformation and relieved that we were able to clean the surfaces without worsening the salt damage. They told us they were glad our careful, step-by-step process protected both their concrete and their landscaping.
At Pristine Window Cleaning, we take pride in going above and beyond, ensuring every project is done the right way, with the customer’s home and property protected at every step.
